Another School Shooting, More Calls For Gun Confiscation

The latest school shooting in Nashville has once again elicited emotional outcries for banning so-called “assault weapons” by the Biden Administration and the American left, at large. Make no mistake about it . . . it’s all emotional because rationalism doesn’t exist in any of the leftists’ arguments for more gun control laws, gun bans, and the characterization of the 2nd Amendment as some arcane, outdated, or misconstrued Constitutional clause that needs to be repealed.

One doesn’t even need to recite the data — an overwhelming array of facts and figures related to the societal benefits of legal, responsible individual gun ownership. Even if I bothered to produce these facts, the left considers their emotion-based arguments to trump all such data. Even the most inconvenient and irrefutable truths. But, here are a few:

-For every 10,000 gun-crime deaths each year, there are a million more documented legal uses of firearms, by private citizens, in self-defense and crime prevention — according to FBI statistics. Over 2 million such cases, annually.

-While Black Americans make up only 12.5% of the U.S. population, they are the victims in over 60% percent of all gun homicides, and these are almost all black-on-black crimes. Remove or normalize this statistic, commensurate to other races, America has one of the lowest homicide rates in the world.

(Did I just make some point steeped in racism? Absolutely not! This is a problem of the American left’s “racism of low expectations,” which emasculates the family structure of American blacks. Beginning with LBJ’s “Great Society” and soon thereafter exacerbated by Nixon’s failed “War on Drugs.” Both of which continue their destructive processes through today.)

-Despite what you may believe, the United States is ranked only 76th in the world in homicides per capita thus far in 2023.

-As for school shootings . . . these simply do not happen where those schools are known to have armed security. Recent “manifestos” published by these mass killers have even revealed the fact they purposefully hit “soft targets,” where they knew they’d have time to do the most damage before outside “first responders” could arrive.

So, enough with the statistics. The left doesn’t care, anyway. Here is what is most important for all Americans to understand — especially by those ostensibly on our side — to repeat often, loudly, and with conviction:

-Criminals, gangs, and the growing number of cartel operations in this country are not going to suddenly hand over their weapons under any kind of gun confiscation scheme or if Congress bans so-called “assault weapons.” Outlawing any class of firearms will only serve to make American citizens more vulnerable to those criminal and mentally-deranged elements of our society. 400+ million firearms are simply not going to be handed in or confiscated. Even if such an attempt is made, the 3D-printing genie is out of the bottle. Criminals, gangs, and other deranged individuals will always have the ability to acquire, fabricate, and use firearms against law-abiding citizens.

Remember that 2 million-plus annual defensive uses of firearms against criminals by law-abiding individuals? What happens to us if that right to defend ourselves is taken away?

-You want our school children protected from mass shooting events? Then protect the damn schools.

The only reason every classroom door is not hardened and every school doesn’t have armed security is that the ‘powers that be’ want more of these mass shootings to occur — along with the subsequent emotional reactions — to wear down the average American’s resolve to maintain our right to defend ourselves against all threats. (Especially the threat of domestic and global tyranny.)

If we can send $100 billion to Ukraine, (even supply firearms to the average Ukrainian citizen), and continue paying for the protection of the rest of the free world with our own military expenditures, we can afford to protect our nation’s schools. In fact, this can be done with no additional increase in the federal budget. Our Department of Education is a total failure, representing nothing more than a bloated bureaucracy of thousands of unnecessary federal employees living off the taxpayers. Since DOE’s inception — and with a $68 billion annual budget — grades and test scoring have plummeted, and we are now even seeing a decline in our average national IQ. The DOE should be dismantled and those funds returned to the states for use in hiring armed security personnel and implementing other physical security measures at every school building.

Schools with armed security and where teachers are trained and allowed to carry firearms are never targeted by these mass shooters. Never. They either choose not to target facilities where armed citizens are known to be protecting those facilities, or they are only stopped after armed agencies or individuals arrive on the scene. 100% of these shooters are stopped by another gun. We can choose for that to be an immediate response by those already present or one where dozens of children are killed while waiting for law enforcement to arrive and act against the shooter. It’s not a complicated equation. It’s simple. It’s rational. It can be accomplished, now.

There’s no reason why American schools cannot implement similar security measures to those employed in Israel. Measures that would effectively stop these mass shootings, immediately. Private security, local police agencies, retired law enforcement and military, as well as trained and licensed teachers who carry weapons keep Israeli school children safe. We can and should do the same, here.

Gun-free zones, everywhere, must be eliminated . . . with the exception of misguided private businesses that wish to risk their customers and employees to potential slaughter by mentally ill persons and other criminal threats. (It’s a free country, you know. And business owners should be free to be stupid, as well.) Then, we can choose whether or not to patronize those businesses. These mass shooting events almost always occur in those gun-free zones. (Frankly, I will shop and spend my money only where I am allowed to protect myself and others.)

-Some of us are old enough to remember when we carried our hunting rifles and shotguns to school in our cars and pick-up trucks. We didn’t kill our classmates. Guns were not the problem then, nor are they now. We have a major societal problem that includes the coddling of mentally ill individuals, “catch and release” programs for violent criminals, and the over-prescribing of psychotropic drugs to children. The latter being, a rarely-discussed commonality in over 90% of these school shootings.

“It’s the guns . . . it’s the guns . . . it’s the guns” . . . is a lie. These mass shootings are only happening because the political resolve of the American left is to do NOTHING to stop them. They know that the more of these events that occur, the closer they can bring the population to a national outcry for gun confiscation and the eventual elimination of the 2nd Amendment.

-Our 2nd Amendment is the last line in the sand protecting the entire world from falling under global totalitarianism. I’ve been saying this for years, and my readers from around the world have sent me private messages agreeing: “When America’s 2nd Amendment falls, we all fall.” Now I’m seeing this theme recently picked up by a growing number of other commentators and meme creators.

The American 2nd Amendment was not given to us to protect the rights of hunters and sport shooters. It wasn’t put there for the sole purpose of self-defense against violent criminals. It exists, purposefully, to secure all our inalienable rights against any out-of-control government — local, state, federal, or foreign.

“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.” -Thomas Jefferson

In response to those who think the 2nd Amendment provides that we can only own revolvers, double-barrel shotguns, bolt-action rifles, or . . . muskets:

“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every country in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops.” -Noah Webster

As to gun-control activist David Hogg’s recent petulant, vapid regurgitations that the Founders’ intent of the 2nd Amendment was only for an organized “militia” to have such arms:

The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.” -Samuel Adams

(Emphasis, mine.)

The elimination of the 2nd Amendment means the end of all remaining individual liberties and a clear, unfettered path toward The Great Reset and a global totalitarian regime. America’s law-abiding gun owners must stand strong, as we are the last line of defense against the total loss of the American ideal of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

“To disarm the people…[i]s the most effectual way to enslave them.” -George Mason

We know this to be true, and our enemies — both foreign and domestic — also know the truth of Mason’s warning.

***I know I’m preaching this predominantly to those already in “the choir,” but it is imperative that each of us share this message with the largest number of individuals within our own networks, as possible. Despite so many other important issues and problems we now face as a nation . . . nothing is more important than the preservation of our 2nd Amendment rights. It is the linchpin holding together everything else for which we now struggle. We saw how many of our own bent the knee under the recent COVID regime and mandates. They cannot do the same under the pressure about to be mounted against this most important of all rights.***
