- The Speaker Johnson/Donald Trump get-together in Florida on Friday may have been the best day in several months for the Speaker. While the pair were speaking on pending future issues, fellow House of Representatives GOP members were trashing Mike Johnson. It’s obvious that — barring a miracle — the House Speaker is on shaky ground. He’s plagued with multiple issues that were worsened by the steady loss of Republican members in the House. Some decided to leave office while at least one other was asked to leave. Johnson had a slim Republican majority when he took the Speaker’s gavel. Now, his days may be numbered.
