- Everyone knows by now that former President Trump is now “President-elect” Trump. I won’t diminish the importance of that event. On Thursday, it became apparent that Special Counsel Jack Smith is closing up shop in his egregious assault against Trump in federal courthouses. Smith has asked the judge for a month delay on a federal case against Trump scheduled for hearings in the next few weeks. Many think that Smith will drop all federal cases after the Supreme Court’s decision that presidents have immunity for actions taken.
