Saturday Bullet Points: January 18, 2025

I can’t think of a single week in recent memory that had more important events to dive into than this past week! (I know, I’ve said that before) Whether it’s the horror show playing out in California, the sad but brutal end to the presidency of Joe Biden, and the mind-boggling things the President is doing on his way out, the news is packed to the brim of our time to dive into them all.

We’ve chosen the “Big Stories” about which we want to ensure you know all the important facts, and we’ve included those here. Read the first few sentences of each bullet point. If you want more details, click the blue arrow, and you’ll be quickly transferred to a complete story. If not, move on to the next bullet point.

Have “another” great holiday weekend!

Bullet Points

  • Though Joe Biden has tried to convince every American that he was the greatest President in U.S. history, he “missed the mark.” My thoughts are that because of his commutation actions on Thursday and Friday, Biden would deserve the title of “Parden Commutation Commander In Chief.” His latest actions centered on commuting 2,500 drug offenders’ sentences. With those 25 issued this week, his total is now approximately 1300! While reading this bullet point, remember that Biden and his fellow Democrats have constantly reminded us that “No one is above the law.” I’m not positive, but I’m fairly certain each one of these that he pardoned or commuted their sentence would not have been needed if he — Joe Biden — had not ignored the crimes courts convicted these criminals for committing crimes! Isn’t there some hypocrisy in Biden’s ignoring the rule of law? For complete details, click on this link:
  • I never believed that any member of Congress would ever stoop so low as to support allowing any illegal alien who was convicted while in the U.S. of any sex crime. However, I was wrong to think that would NOT happen. This week, the House passed a bill that confirms illegal aliens who commit sex crimes or domestic violence are inadmissible to be in the U.S. and will be deported. It blew my mind that 145 House Democrats voted against that bill! Thankfully, there was a sufficient number of votes to pass that bill. At least “some” common sense is being held by a few Democrats! • Say what you will: Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) is a strong leader facing incredible odds. He works daily as a House Speaker to pull House Representatives together to pass legislation. Some — even from the GOP — thought Mike was too soft for the job. However, this week, he changed a few of those minds. He made a very bold move to oust a GOP “Deep Stater” from a very prestigious position in the House of Representative leadership. An Ohio representative, Mike Turner, was removed by Johnson as the head of one of the most important House committees: Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence or HPSCI. Almost every House member thinks Johnson did well in making that move. Even if this move will not quell the concerns of some of the Congressional conservatives, it proves that Johnson can make the hard calls. For complete details, click on this link:
  • Most Americans realize that the current Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, had some physical “problems” during the past several years. It’s not unusual for these types of things to happen to aging people. However, it shocked the nation (and the World) to discover that Secretary Austin did not notify the President of his hospitalization for several days. Austin didn’t even bother to inform his second-in-command at the Department of Defense that he would be “out of touch” for a few days! That’s bad enough, but it gets worse. It was discovered in an Inspector General’s report on the matter that the same thing happened several more times to Austin. He also did NOT notify his superiors or those tasked to fill in when their leader was out. For complete details, click on this link:
  • A blockbuster revelation came from First Lady Melania Trump in an interview. The moderator got to discussing Former President Obama and Michelle regarding some credible-sounding information: apparently, the Obamas are not as close as they have been in the past. Rumors are growing that the pair are contemplating divorce! I know that may be tough to believe, but the rumors are flying, and many come from credible sources. Megyn Kelly addressed this with Maureen Callahan:

  • Certainly, you heard about the law passed by Congress, signed into law by President Biden, and appealed to the Supreme Court. The law was to force the social media site TikTok to be sold to United States persons or companies or be terminated for use by anyone in the U.S. On Friday, the Justices unanimously ruled that the law is legal and must be followed. And the parent company of TikTok has until Sunday for the sale to take place! What is expected to happen? Rather than continue the story here, we refer you to a full article with complete details. • Israel and Hamas have negotiated to achieve a mutually acceptable cease-fire for months. Several times, the principles have created a scenario that is tentatively agreed to by the two entities, only to watch as they fall apart. Early this week, President Biden proudly notified the American people that Hamas and Israel had agreed to a “final” cease-fire. Biden’s speech about the cease-fire was full of fire and self-proclaiming that he — Joe Biden — was responsible for the success of these discussions and that he was responsible for the actual cease-fire agreement himself and said he wrote it with his staff eight months ago. That agreement, however, was unacceptable to both Israel and Hamas and took any cease-fire off the table. It seems now that continued negotiations have been successful. The executed agreement is set to begin Sunday. For complete details, click on this link:
  • Vice Presidential candidate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz went back to work as governor when losing the election to Donald Trump and VP Vance. However, the Minnesota Supreme Court put an obstacle to the governor’s plans to call a special election in Minnesota to attempt to gain control in House District 40B by Democrats in his state. The Supreme Court nixed Walz’s actions. The results will give Minnesota Republicans a one-seat advantage in the Minnesota House. For complete details, click on this link:
  • Most Americans didn’t have the opportunity to watch the Senate confirmation hearings. As you can imagine, they were full of anger from both sides. On Friday, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was Trump’s nomination to become the Secretary of Homeland Security. Democrats tried their best to ask questions to put the Governor on defense. She never wavered when asked some crazy questions and after her answers. Here are a few minutes from that Friday hearing:

  • Representative James Comer chairs the powerful Oversight Committee. He oversaw his committee’s probe of the Biden family’s “influence-peddling” schemes to unearth the facts. On Friday, Comer revealed who his committee had determined would be their next target. Comer and his group will examine bureaucrats’ attempts to block all the information needed to reach conclusions about the “probable” lawlessness of multiple people in that Biden family investigation. Comer wants to hold the “deep state” actors accountable for multiple cover-ups of the Biden family’s lawless activities. For complete details, click on this link:
  • We could not end these Bullet Points stories today without showing you one of the most mystifying speeches we have ever seen or heard from a sitting president. While speaking to a large crowd, President Joe Biden screamed at his audience, lauding the success of Congress creating the Equal Rights Amendment into law. According to Biden, the Equal Rights Amendment is now the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. But there’s one big problem: though Congress passed it, it failed to obtain support from 38 states, which is required for any law to become a U.S. Constitutional amendment! The real problem for Biden is the Constitution contains only 27 Amendments!
