Joe and Mika, McCain, Oh…and President Trump

Meghan McCain

President Trump did it again:  he said something unflattering about somebody.  No surprise — it was about someone in the media:  Mika Brzezinski who is the co-host of the “Morning Joe” show on MSNBC.  She and her fiance/co-host are amazingly nasty on-air about President Trump, his Administration and all those in it, and are persistent in their personal attacks against him.  President Trump tweeted some very unflattering things about Mika and Joe, and the World of Media and many politicians have chided the President for the tweets.  Even House Speaker Paul Ryan weighed in.  Meghan McCain — daughter of Arizona Senator John McCain and a FOX News on-air personality — said “What Donald Trump said was below the Presidency.”  In the furor over these tweets and their contents there are a few things that need to be mentioned:  1.  “Morning Joe’s” hosts are NOT news anchors.  In fact they are not reporters or news people at all.  Their show is a political talk show and they are talk show hosts — WAAAY different than news reporters or news anchors.  Their show content is NOTHING about news — it’s about political narrative THEY shape to fit their show.  It is daily filled with negativism, opinion, innuendo, gossip, and MSNBC propaganda.  It is no secret they do not like President Trump and are constantly making disparaging comments about all things Trump;  2.  Because of who they work for — NBC — and because they are television show hosts, their jobs and their futures are determined by show ratings.  That’s a bit different from network news anchors.  The more noise they make on-air the more they feel it may raise their ratings, which have been and are very low.  They’ll say almost anything to get people talking about them and their show.  Regarding the Trump Administration members, Mika and Joe have been especially venomous about Kellyann Conway, and hold nothing back about her while bashing her boss.  Here are some “Morning Joe” anti Trump shots:

  • Joe Scarborough says Trump is sullying the reputations of career public servants and urges them to reconsider their unwavering support of the president.
  • Ms. Brzezinski said in February that she would no longer book Ms. Conway on the show, because she and Mr. Scarborough had come to believe that the White House counselor was prone to spreading falsehoods.  On the air last week, she renewed that criticism,  calling Ms. Conway “not credible” and chiding CNN for featuring Ms. Conway.
  • MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski stopped by “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on Tuesday night to rip Donald Trump, saying his presidency is “far worse” than expected.  “It’s almost at the point of no return,” Brzezinski said.  Scarborough chimed
              “Morning Joe’s Mika and Joe

in: “It is dogs and cats living together… We’ve known the guy for 10, 11, 12 years and we never expected it to be quite this bad.”

  • While discussing a photo of President Donald Trump and a collection of Republican House members Friday, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” panel ripped Trump and the GOP over Thursday’s narrow vote to replace Obamacare, calling Trump and his cronies “fat, middle-aged white guys.”  The picture in question was a photo-op for the president and select members of the House GOP, which was a celebratory set up in the White House Rose Garden after the House passed the American Health Care Act, which is the Trump-backed plan to “repeal and replace” Obamacare. Trump had postponed his first return to New York City since being elected in order to hold the event at the White House.  “They all voted for Trump,” Donny Deutsch said about the photo being displayed on screen. “There’s no moral compass, there’s no political compass, there’s disabled children who will be losing their benefits in school, and what are we looking at? A bunch of fat, middle-aged white guys.”  Mika Brzezinski chimed in that the men — and one single woman — standing behind Trump in the photo resembled  a “golf course ribbon cutting” more than anything else and described the assembled lawmakers were a “sea of political stupidity.” Brzezinski said the one woman in the photo didn’t “look too happy.”

Look, politics is not in 2017 the same as politics was in 1950.  In case you haven’t seen or heard, America is in the midst of an all-out political war.  That war has been fueled by hatred, anger, class warfare, from hundreds of thousands of people from various political backgrounds and socioeconomic standings.  But it impacts every American.  And unfortunately, in today’s America it is too easy to record and replay any and every sentence spoken and every act done by anyone in just seconds after those things are said or done.  Politicians and talk show hosts are the biggest perpetrators of spinning negative narrative aimed at conservatives and liberals that always include allegations against those with political leaning opposite of who spins the story of the day.  This has acted as gasoline on the fire of political discord in America that grows bigger and consumes more of the nation every day.  There is NO end in sight.

This vitriol is not exclusive to any network, any political party, any gender, or any age — it’s universal in its consuming power.  Members of a political party don’t just lash out at the opposite party’s members, they devour members of their OWN party.  Read this:

  • At an event on Tuesday night, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said said that Donald Trump’s scandals are “reaching Watergate size and scale.”  “This is not good for the country,” he added.
  • The Arizona Republican bashed President Donald Trump’s White House as an “administration in disarray” while attending a security conference in Munich. Then, on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” he blasted Trump’s attacks on the media, saying “the first thing that dictators do is shut down the press.”
  • Sen. John McCain of Arizona has said that U.S. leadership was better under President Barack Obama than his successor, President Trump.  McCain noted that he had “raised questions about [Trump’s] character” several times before, after the candidate made offensive remarks about prisoners of war (including McCain himself), a federal judge of Mexican descent and the Muslim parents of a deceased U.S. soldier.  Yet, McCain had stopped short of breaking ties with the GOP nominee. The comments leaked on Friday, however, appear to have been a breaking point.  “I have wanted to support the candidate our party nominated. He was not my choice, but as a past nominee, I thought it important I respect the fact that Donald Trump won a majority of the delegates by the rules our party set. I thought I owed his supporters that deference,” McCain said.  He continued: “But Donald Trump’s behavior this week, concluding with the disclosure of his demeaning comments about women and his boasts about sexual assaults, make it impossible to continue to offer even conditional support for his candidacy.”  McCain said he and he wife, Cindy, would not vote for Trump or for Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee.
Sen. McCain

McCain previously even threw some nastiness out about Barack Obama:  The senior senator from Arizona said President Obama would “rather lose a war in order to win a political campaign.”

I do not condone vulgarity coming from the White House.  I also do not condone vulgarity coming from any news media on-air personalities, in newspaper stories penned from an obvious political perspective, or from night time talk show hosts.  Yes, the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech.  But the elitists in the U.S. all claim to own some moral authority that approves of THEIR attacks while damning attacks from the “other” side.  My deceased step father would call that “horse hooey,” but would have used a stronger word than “hooey.”

The political furor is NOT going to diminish in volume.  Political attacks are NOT going to reduce in number nor EVER achieve some type of peaceful resolution.  What can we do about that?  It will take at least one generation to “drain the swamp.”  I’m not blaming all this on Washington D.C.  But I have seen only one “major” politician in power who has made any demonstrative effort to start draining the swamp:  Donald Trump.  Yes, he struggles with not responding to those who attack him.  But remember this:  he’s NOT a politician;  he’s a businessman.  That’s not an excuse — it’s the truth.  My late Mother once told me that “if you tell a dog everyday that it’s a pig, eventually it will stop barking and begin to oink.”  Donald Trump hears and reads everyday all the lies, half truths, denigrating comments about those in his administration and his family, and all his policies and proposals that — by the way — Americans elected him for!  No wonder the man lashes out every once in a while.

We’ve never seen this kind of reaction from a President.  But in fairness to him, we’ve never seen these constant attacks on a daily basis against a President led by a out-of-the-closet far left Media.  They say and print anything to attack him.

Let me close by parroting what Meghan McCain said today.  But I’m saying it about the Media and many in politics and what they say daily:  “This is below the Presidency.”  Donald Trump will not be President forever.  The Media and Politicians WILL be around forever.  Start acting like you are adults and Americans.  Let’s all respect the Office of the Presidency and whoever occupies it.  And stop making excuses for doing exactly opposite of that.

Juan Williams on “The 5” just made this statement:  “America has sunk to a new low today with Donald Trump’s tweets.  How do Americans explain to their children how the President of the United States — the most powerful man on Earth — could stoop to say such nasty things about a member of the Media?”  Juan, here’s my reply:  Explain to them how to reconcile President Trump’s  tweets at the same time you explain to them how members of the Media day after day after day don’t just ridicule the President, actually curse him, state he’s “mentally deranged, he’s a murderer, a misogynist, a liar, a Muslim hater, and he stole the election from Hillary Clinton.”

Donald Trump is the President of the United States….PERIOD.  For that (and the 60 million Americans who voted for him) he deserves the same respect Americans gave to Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy, Eisenhower, etc.  Juan, you may not like him, but he certainly has completed much of what he promised to get done, unlike his predecessor.  And he’s only just begun.

  1. I pray for him everyday and know he is under major attack by a twisting demonic spirit that owns the media – the Bible calls it Leviathan. Unlike a crocodile, it has many heads, has 1100 teeth, it attacks, bites down and twists every thing about its victim until it is it irrecognizable. The Progressive Left has changed the meaning of “Bullying” to mean simply disagreeing with what they say. Leviathan is lying, misrepresenting, twisting, deceiving on steriods
