Lunacy on the Left

President Trump, they don’t like you!

Let’s just be honest: the political Leftists are going bonkers over President Trump’s opportunity to appoint a second justice to the U.S. Supreme Court. In “ordinary” United States politics, all at this time would only be being gracious and thankful to retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy for many years of faithful service as a member of the Supreme Court. Not so in today’s vitriolic political climate. Other than from conservatives, gratitude to Kennedy has been lost. The war of words, threats, the “sky is falling” rhetoric from Democrats cranked up immediately — as did the conspiratorial and hyperbolic venom for the President from a Senator from New Jersey — Cory Booker:

First, Donald Trump is NOT a subject of a criminal investigation. The fact is, the Trump Campaign is being investigated for collusion with the Russians during the 2016 election. Even if Mueller discovered someone(s) in the Trump campaign did so, COLLUSION IS NOT A CRIME ACCORDING TO U.S. LAW! And certainly then candidate Trump would not personally involve himself in any collusion — if any it would be by other members of the campaign.

Secondly, both FBI Director James Comey (later fired) AND Robert Mueller himself stated the President was NOT a target of the Mueller investigation.Where’s the crime?

Booker stated that Republicans took a year from Obama’s presidency by not allowing the confirmation process to replace Antonin Scalia on the Court, therefore denying Merrick Garland — who President Obama wanted to replace Scalia — to enter the Senate confirmation process. Booker conveniently ignores the “Biden Rule” that former Senator Joe Biden put forth which would prevent Supreme Court justice replacement in the last year of a President’s term. This was to allow the American people to have some say-s0 in a SCOTUS judge appointment with their votes in a presidential election. Former Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) blew that away by having the Senate make confirmation available whenever with just a simple majority.

ICE

What is ICE?

ICE’S mission is to protect America from the cross-border crime and illegal immigration that threaten national security and public safety. This is executed through the enforcement of more than 400 federal statutes and focuses on smart immigration enforcement, preventing terrorism and combating the illegal movement of people and goods. Immigration activities at the borders are critical for ICE’s agents, but most of their work is done in the interior of the U.S.

ICE special agents help businesses maintain a lawful workforce and enforce immigration laws against those who encourage and rely on unauthorized workers, sometimes taking advantage of their situation to offer low pay and inadequate conditions.

ICE is the principle authority charged to find and remove illegal aliens who are criminals, fugitives or recent arrivals. Immigration enforcement includes cracking down on those who produce fraudulent documents to enable unlawful activity.

Several prominent Democrats who are mulling a bid for the White House in 2020 have sought to bolster their progressive credentials by calling for major changes to immigration enforcement, with some pressing for the outright abolition of ICE.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York said ICE has “become a deportation force,” telling CNN late Thursday “you should get rid of it, start over, reimagine it and build something that actually works.” Her comments follow similar sentiments expressed by Sen. Kamala Harris of California. In interviews with multiple outlets, she has said the government “maybe” or “probably” should “start from scratch” on an immigration enforcement agency.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who sought the Democratic nomination in 2016 and is mulling another run, has stopped short of his colleagues’ calls to dismantle ICE. But he has also been quick to note his vote opposing the 2002 law that paved the way for ICE to replace the old Immigration and Naturalization Service following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Protesters chanted “shut detention down!” as they marched in New York City’s Foley Square on Saturday, while in El Paso, Texas, hundreds marched toward the Paso Del Norte (Santa Fe) Bridge that crosses into Juarez, Mexico. More than 600 events were planned across the country.

But why the sudden furor to disband ICE? What has changed? What has ICE done that has so many in an uproar? The answer: NOTHING ICE HAS DONE WAS A CHANGE FROM ICE METHODS DURING THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION. WHAT HAS CHANGED? ONLY MAINSTREAM MEDIA COVERAGE OF THE WORK ICE DOES.

  • Remember the pictures circulated of illegal immigrant children in cages in a story blaming the Trump presidency for jailing them? The pictures were taken in 2014 of an Obama detention center.
  • Approximately 1900 children — most of whom have now been re-united with parents — were temporarily separated from the adults who accompanied them when illegally crossing the border. Why? Two reasons: authorities could not verify those adults were parents or family members of the children; and secondly, the law allows children to remain in immigration detention no longer than 20 days.
  • 89,000 illegal children during the Obama Administration were placed by ICE because no parents or relatives could be found to turn them over to;
  • There is no “official” record of how the total of how many these children were actually separated from their parents under Obama.

The Leftist media refuses to discuss these details or to even acknowledge that there are two culprits in this entire process, and that either could end the travesty immediately, but for personal reasons continue refusal to do so. Who are they?

  1. Immigrant parents. Most parents know their children will be taken after an illegal crossing. Those adults simply weigh the cost/benefits of that. The know that after detention, those children will be placed somewhere in America with good families. And those people are told that at some point, immigration laws will be changed to allow the parents to legally enter the U.S. and rejoin their children.
  2. Congress. To stop this problem, Congress needs to pass a comprehensive immigration law. With that completed and if it includes the ability for ICE and Homeland Security to seal the southern border, illegal crossings attempts into the U.S. will drop to a trickle. But Congress is afraid of losing voter support, no matter what the details of any law would. be.

Summary

I am certain of a couple of things in today’s political conversations in the U.S. Of course the replacement for Justice Kennedy on the Supreme Court is extremely important. Whoever is confirmed and joins the Court will be in a position to participate in what could certainly be the transformation of much of existing legal precedence that is so controversial today.

Unfortunately, the coastal, Potomac politically elites are using their liberal litmus tests to qualify all candidates for the job. In doing so, they ignore the only real factor that should be considered in replacing Justice Kennedy: any replacement the President chooses should be a Constitutional scholar who accepts every tenet of our founding document as “the” source of all U.S. laws and those laws’ interpretations, using the context of each to at the time written to determine its meaning and application. NOTHING ELSE SHOULD MATTER. Each of the 25 candidates from the list the President released has impeccable personal and legal credentials and seem well qualified. That’s all that should matter!

Abolishing ICE would be pure lunacy. It is unfortunate that we even need border enforcement anyway. But we do. And someone must do it.

Stopping illegal entries into the U.S. no matter how would significantly reduce crime, illegals taking jobs from Americans, and the glut of American taxpayer tax revenue sucked up by illegals in the United States.

But why the furor from the Left? It’s simply this one thing: “Dump Trump!”

Think about it: what platform are Democrat candidates using to attract voters this Fall? Tax breaks for Americans, more jobs, reduced unemployment, increasing gross national product of the U.S., saving the economy, attracting foreign companies to come back to the United States? ALL OF THESE ARE DONALD TRUMP’S CAMPAIGN PLATFORM.

So what do Democrats plan to use in their run to take back the House and Senate? “Dump Trump!”

Oh, there’s one more thing I forgot about: they all hate the President — not because of anything other than he is being successful, AND he owes no one anything! He works for the American people. And the Left cannot stand that.

I don’t think there’s much to worry about, though. Way back in 2015 when Donald Trump’s name was being whispered as a possible 2016 candidate for the White House, I predicted in writing that if he ran he’d win. To that end, I predict that in the mid-terms, the G.O.P. will keep the House and the Senate, and increase their seats in both. Why? The Left scoffs at conservatives and gives them no credit for having the ability to comprehend the truth of Leftist politics. But conservatives do have that ability. And they will use it again in November.

    Good blog…

I remain convinced that if we had term limits much of this would not be so blown out of proportion and defined be party lines

We have become a 2 party system in which elected officials think it is their 30 career path.

While I am a Republican not every elected Republican agrees with all I agree with nor should they.

Whether you are a Democrat or Republican neither are 100% right on every issue. It is time they actually talk with each other and work to resolve real issues instead of taking extreme issues which matter to less than 5% of the population and making those items hide the real issues.

In the 6th grade I remember my teacher teaching up about politics and we set ourselves up as CANDIDATES and for homework we had to write down our PLANKS and then share with the class why we believed strongly in these planks. As a 6 th grader, we of course could not comprehend all the issues but more take away remains firm: All political candidates should have written planks and be called upon to defend why the believe and support them. An answer is not because you got paid by a drug company or other source but why it is good for the country and citizens you represent
