Interesting things happened non-stop this past week in every sector of Americans’ lives. COVID-19 is always in the news; Joe Biden’s plummeting approval ratings are daily news — because they decline every day! Of course, Biden’s policies in healthcare, foreign policy, and the economy are daily items that are actually one thing, and Biden describes them as ANOTHER thing. There’s one commonality that holds the entire Biden Administration together: chaos. While Democrats in Congress and across the nation have firmly supported this president, this past week, we saw the cracks in that support that are larger than even I thought they were. So let’s get to the facts of the week in our Saturday Bullet Points.
Bullet Points
- Here we go again. It appears that another federal judge has jumped on Biden’s vaccine mandate, labeling it “beyond the authority of the President.” This one is about the mandate for all federal employees — which is a bit of a shock. What are the details? What did the judge say in his ruling? For complete details, click on this link:
- U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a brief meeting in Geneva this Friday, Jan. 21, aimed at averting the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and initial reports indicate that the officials had a “frank” and positive talk and reached a truce until next week. - Is it too early to talk specifics about the midterm elections that are now just months away? Remember this: every one of the 435 U.S. House of Representatives seats is up for grabs. They all are always for two-year terms. The U.S. Senate seats are constitutionally set at six years, which are staggered. Conventional wisdom is that the House is likely to turn red in November. The Democrats currently have the slimmest of majorities. And close to 30 Democrats representatives have already announced they’re not running. That’s the House. But what about the Senate? We’ve got the info! For complete details, click on this link:
- Gabbie Petito’s murder has always been thought to be Brian Laundrie — her fiance. But the FBI has either not known or kept that knowledge close to the vest. But Laundrie’s notebook, we discovered on Friday, solved the mystery. For complete details, click on this link:
- Who will ever forget the uproar regarding vote-counting during the 2020 election? And, for some reason, the state of Georgia has been the epicenter for all the uproar. Numerous Americans — including former President Trump — feel certain that Georgia’s election results confirmed by the Governor were NOT accurate. One man in Texas remains incensed about those allegations, so much so that he threatened Georgia election officials! What did he do? Well, it was enough to get the FBI on his trail. - The uproar in the United States Senate this past week over the screams from the Left across the nation to kill the filibuster dominated the news. Though the Senate is split evenly between Democrats and Republicans, several Democrat Senators were flies in the legislative buttermilk that ruined Democrats’ chances to pass the socialist Build Back Better bill and the onerous Voter Rights bill. But Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), who were the targets of the entire Democrat Party for refusing to support the elimination of the filibuster, were NOT the real culprits in this disastrous loss for Democrats? Who was the “King without a Crown?” For complete details, click on this link:
- One of the most distasteful things about flying these days is going through security, allowing TSA to do whatever they want to prove we’re not terrorists. (Have you ever forgotten something in your purse or briefcase that got you in trouble?) Presenting an ID to prove who you are is much of a big deal: most have driver’s licenses or passports. But one large group of people can waltz through airport security without either. Who are they, and what proof of identification is required from them? You will NOT believe this! - Our COVID-19 pandemic has put a damper on our ability to receive sufficient numbers of numerous items across the board sufficient to allow us to live “normal” lives. International shipping is atrocious. Every part of it is mindboggling. And the shortage of many vital items necessary to keep our economy chugging along has negatively impacted our abilities to purchase goods like never before. One of those items is new automobiles. The big problem: computer chips. But there’s a fix in the air! Intel, who manufactures the computer chips that run just about every electronic gizmo in our lives, announced they’re building a factory that will be the largest computer chip manufacturer on the planet. Guess where’s it’s going? For complete details, click on this link:
- Abortion is under attack from all sides. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to stop the new Texas abortion law on Friday. They did NOT rule on the law itself but refused to stop its enforcement in Texas while several other lawsuits are pending. However, with the uproar at epic volume, Americans have weighed in a poll regarding abortion that is very surprising. For complete details, click on this link:
- Everyone in the U.S. recognizes that Florida has been the most successful state at managing life for Floridians during the COVID-19 pandemic. Governor DeSantis has, again and again, thumbed his nose at the Biden Administration for their egregious policies that have cost the nation and Americans dearly and altered lives forever. Florida has refused to accept the Biden Administrations’ mandates for operating their schools. They’ve been open for the duration! This week, Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary, made a fool of herself when she blasted Florida for mishandling federal funds earmarked to help keep schools open across the nation. There’s a problem: Florida’s schools never closed! For complete details, click on this link:
- The fight over the amount of the minimum wage has seemed eternal. The concept was never considered a “living wage,” which is an amount of money sufficient for one’s 100% financial support. It was designed to serve two purposes: to incentivize companies to hire young workers to train for their careers at the beginning of their work lives and to pay these young workers for their work as “interns” while they learn and actual trade. But the current minimum wage levels have NEVER been sufficient for those on the Left. They actually want the minimum wage to be a “living wage.” Joe Biden has decided to step in and pander to those leftists and announced a new federal minimum wage. What is it? - Joe Biden is really screwing up the necessary process to stop Russia from invading Ukraine. Though pressured by many in his own party to inform the Russian president that if he invades Ukraine, the U.S. will respond militarily, Biden refuses to do so and is soft-pedaling his “threats” of serious financial sanctions against Russia if they do so. That’s hilarious: Biden thinks he can gaslight Vladimir Putin! If Trump had tried the same thing, he’d have been impeached. What’s going on? For complete details, click on this link:
- The U.S. Secretary of State Blinken has been in talks with his Russian counterpart to prevent war. Friday, Blinken offered Vladimir Putin a summit with President Biden in a last-ditch effort to avoid war in Ukraine. Many are holding their breaths, awaiting Putin’s response. However, conventional wisdom is that the U.S. waited too long to make the offer, and Putin is already “on the go.” For complete details, click on this link:
