It’s tough to do Bullet Points today. Why? We don’t know which ones are the most important — and we can’t use them all!
If you’re new to the “Saturday Bullet Points” weekly offering, here’s how it works:
- We choose the stories we think are the most important stories — usually the top ten or twelve;
- We then give you a three- or four-sentence explanation of the whole story so you’ll know whether you want to take a look;
- At the end of the explanation of the content of each story, you’ll see a blue bullet point that looks like this:
Click on that arrow to go to the complete story; - If you’ve already read the content of the story when you read the description, just skip to the next one and repeat the process.
This is the best and easiest way to begin your weekend by knowing early in the day the details of the big stories of the week without having to dig them up yourself. And it’s a great place to drink that first cup or two of coffee as you get your weekend underway.

- Today marks the 25th day of the shutdown. That means we’re getting dangerously close to a point in time where many Americans are facing certain financial horrors, especially those who rely on food stamps and other government subsidies. Sadly, the folks who find themselves in a situation like this face the worst outcomes: not being able to feed their families. If an agreement is not reached in the next few days, many states will be without the funds necessary to provide food for low-income Americans. It’s getting really serious. - Most Americans came away from this past week’s meetings between President Trump and Canada’s Prime Minister with the impression that all is well between the two North American countries, even regarding Trump’s tariff policies. - California Governor Gavin Newsom acts like he has plenty of money to give away. Though California is struggling under massive debt, much of which was initiated by its Governor. His latest giveaway was a shocking donation to the number one abortion entity in the United States. Planned Parenthood found itself in the bullseye of a Pro-Life President who massively cut the federal grants in the hundreds of millions that his predecessors had been giving to Planned Parenthood. - We all know well that the federal government has been shut down by Democrats refusing to accept the GOP’s budget bill, which Democrats demanded from Republicans at the beginning. - You may not realize it, but it’s time for some elections to get underway. Early voting is now underway in multiple states. Probably, the most-watched race for governor is that in New Jersey.
