Bidenflation’s Biggest Target: Energy

Where are the results of Biden’s “Build Back Better” plan he promised would be Job #1 in his administration? He didn’t bother to tell us in his campaign that his plan would work ONLY if and when Congress passed it. He didn’t say that it would be full of more than $1 Trillion of nonsense measures that would do very little for the American people but would fatten the pockets of those to whom he and his fellow Democrats are obligated.

Who are those folks to which he’s obligated? Just take a moment and look at the Federal Election Commission campaign donations reports for the Biden Campaign. If you want to take time to follow the rabbit trails of who and how much the listed individuals, PACs and SuperPACs gave, you’ll see that each contribution of any significant size came from someone, some group, or some entity to which Joe Biden has some type of quid pro quo obligation.

A huge chunk of the “Build Back Better” legislation is to fulfill Joe’s financial commitments.

In addition to this, have you yet reconciled Biden’s and Obama’s $1 trillion “shovel-ready” jobs package they tricked Americans into believing that would jumpstart our economy? If you haven’t, remember this: more than half of the money in that bill simply disappeared. It went to corporate buddies of Obama and Biden like Solyndra. Five years ago I drove by the empty Solyndra “former” location that appears from the interstate to be fully functioning: a beautiful building with the company name emblazoned in lighted letters about 20-feet tall.  Solyndra was to be the “next best thing” for building technologically amazing solar panels that far surpassed those being built in China.

Solyndra’s success never materialized, but $500 million dollars of our “Solyndra taxpayer dollars” disappeared.

Obama’s explanation about that and the other boondoggles that obliterated hundreds of millions of dollars: He giggled in a meeting when asked about that critical program to “put our nation to work.” Those in the meeting chuckled along with him when he quipped, “I guess those shovel-ready jobs were not so shovel-ready after all.”

What makes any American citizen feel Biden is going to be better than Obama in ANY endeavor?

American Workers

Workers have been earning higher wages in the last few years, but inflation has consumed those gains. And it appears to be worsening by the hour! Many Americans feel like they are on a treadmill and cannot progress toward their goals, including saving for retirement or buying a new house. If Congressional Democrats get their way and pass their multitrillion-dollar spending bill, we’re going to see the inflation beast become even more ravenous.

Speaker of the House Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Schumer’s colossal and excessive spending and regulation bill will make it more difficult for American workers to thrive. Provision after provision in the bill would either directly or indirectly increase inflation by increasing the cost of energy use, while also raising taxes.

Democrats will force the early closing of coal plants that still have years of productivity. When we close coal plants early, it costs electric users money and causes electric rates to go up. Why? Because we must pay off the costs of building the coal plant and the clean coal technology added just a few short years ago.

While still paying for a closed coal plant, American taxpayers would also fund thousands of wind towers and thousands of square miles of solar panels. In addition, we would have to build more natural gas plants for when the sun isn’t shining, or the wind isn’t blowing, which is a whopping 70% of the time.

“It’s The Climate, Stupid”

This forced premature closing of coal plants and the building of new electrical power sources aren’t going to make one iota of difference to the climate. Communist China emits more pollution than the United States, all of Europe, India and Russia combined. China burned 4 billion tons of coal in 2020, half the global total. The Chinese are slowing down, but instead, are planning on building dozens of more coal plants.

It is ruinous to make Americans pay more for their electricity when the largest emitter in the world is doing nothing to combat climate change. Ironically, the communist Chinese government will likely profit off our efforts to go green because three-quarters of the world’s batteries and solar panels are made in China.

By the way: have you ever seen what “getting” the material with which to make batteries looks like?

That’s a Washington mine that destroys (permanently) hundreds of acres mining lithium for use in battery production.

It looks REALLY like an “eco-friendly” energy source, doesn’t it? And batteries are NOT renewable which means the destruction of millions of acres in those states that contain elements needed. The demand for lithium is only expected to continually increase.

Secondly, what about the electricity necessity for electric car owners? You can’t plug an EV (electric car) into a plug in a garage. It requires SIGNIFICANT electrical upgrades. There are NO subdivisions in my city which contain the electrical grid necessary for EV-ready operations. None of the climate change sycophants dare mention those costs.

If you’re lucky enough to be one of the first to buy an electric car and you install a charging station in your garage, you’ll probably be OK. But if six or seven of your close neighbors do the same thing, “Uh-Oh! I can’t get my car to charge!”

It will cost towns and cities hundreds of millions of dollars to retro-fit existing residential and commercial properties to accommodate electrical needs to keep electric automobiles fueled.

But there’s good news! And this news will certainly make you happy. All you’ll need to do is move into a NEW house in a NEW subdivision that already has electric infrastructure to take care of your electric car! One story from a periodical marketing residential EV infrastructure gave us the plan:

Your next home will probably be able to charge your car. As electric vehicle sales soar, some local governments require builders to include EVSE-ready infrastructure in their new builds.

Updated U.S. building codes are about to change drastically. Quartz reports that homes that typically feature one or two 240-volt plugs will now be ready to install Level 2 chargers. All homes will be required to be “EV ready,” with the ability to charge electric vehicles built into building blueprints.

Building Codes

The International Code Council (ICC) creates building safety standards and codes builders follow. Their new codes indicate “New construction shall facilitate future installation and use of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70).” These new codes are applicable to private homes, multi-family residences, condos, and apartment buildings.

What’s the Rush to Kill Coal?

What environmentalists “forget” to tell Americans is that new “clean coal” plants are amazingly environmentally efficient. Dramatic changes in technology have cleaned the coal energy system up in dramatic fashion.

If Congressional Democrats succeed in replacing coal plants with renewable energy sources, we will become more like Europe, which is experiencing a dramatic energy crunch caused by virtually windless conditions. This energy crunch is making energy even more expensive than it is here.

Germany’s electric rates, the highest globally, are triple what some of our less green states pay. Germans pay so much because of their heavy investments in wind and solar, which provide 38% of their power. In spite of Germany’s heavy investment in renewables, coal provided more energy than wind in the first half of 2021. And it’s not even winter yet, when coal is most utilized.

Misrepresentations In “Renewable Energy Sources”

Some states are experiencing the consequences of relying too heavily on renewable energy sources. Both California and Texas struggled to provide their citizens with power and air conditioning this past summer. State officials repeatedly asked their customers to turn their air conditioning up to 78° on hot days. California even went so far as to pay industrial users a premium to burn oil to make their own electricity to keep the lights on elsewhere.

That is just a snapshot of the laws the Left wants to pass. Additionally, Democrats want to subsidize electric cars that are still only affordable for the wealthy. Despite all the hype and subsidies, electric cars are only 1-2% of the cars on our roads, because many people don’t want to use them. The Left also wants to spend billions on electric buses that communities have already taken off the road because they can’t go up hills or stand the cold very well.

Democrat leadership also wants to raise business taxes, which will be passed on to consumers. When a grocery store that operates on a 1-2% margin (which most do) must pay more taxes and more for the electricity they use, prices will go up. That is one of the reasons why bacon is now over $7.00 a pack after usually being significantly less than that.

Democrats want to put their heads in the sand and ignore rapidly rising prices. Increasing the cost of energy will only make inflation worse because energy is used to do virtually everything. Not only do we have to pay more of our own money for our energy, but we also must pay more for our groceries, houses, and cars.

The insanity of “hurry, hurry, hurry” to get Leftists agenda items in place regarding replacement energy processes makes no sense! Who in their right mind would think Biden’s cancellation of the XL Pipeline permit his first day as President without considering the ramifications of doing so was a good idea? To make matters worse, he “temporarily” terminated leasing rights for oil companies to drill on federal lands — which are all owned by U.S. taxpayers! Did anyone tell Americans before Election Day in 2020 that his doing so would initiate a precipitous and immediate rise in the cost of energy for ALL Americans?

Summary

What has happened so far in our American energy industry was predictable: make knee-jerk decisions to stop this, outlaw that, threaten this other thing — ALL in the name of climate change was absolutely STUPID! I was aghast, not only at what Biden did, but his timing in doing so. He knee-capped every segment of the U.S. energy industry without having plans already in place to effectively transition away from the energy sources effectively supplying the nation to his “Green New Deal” program that is little more than the codification of AOC’s “Squad.”

Boy, that worked out well for us all. And now we’re drowning in the results of Joe’s insane actions: massively higher and still-growing energy costs.

Attacking affordable energy while inflation runs rampant seems, at best, delusional and, at worst, intentionally destructive. Democrats need to stop playing political games with American’s electric bill and instead focus on reigning in inflation and getting the economy running again.

If you think this administration can do these things, raise your hand for us all to see…raise your hands…don’t be shy!

I get it: no hands raised. No one thinks the Biden Administration can do it.

I agree.

Shocking, isn’t it?
